Interpretation

This drawing may be an alternative study for 'Corinna of Tanagra' (c.1893, Leighton House Museum).

Description

Study of the head and shoulders of a female figure. The shoulders face to the left and the figure looks over the left shoulder to face the viewer. The eyes looks up and to the right. There are frills of fabric across the right shoulder, and a length of fabric is draped over the left shoulder. There is a wreath of leaves around the head. The hair is short, or tied up, and curly.
