Description

Centre of sheet: study for the right leg of Samson in the painting 'Samson and Delilah' (c.1858, untraced). The leg faces the viewer and is bent at the knee so that the thigh is in sharp perspective. Right of sheet: study of a male head in profile, facing to the left. The figure has a beard and moustache and wears a turban.
