Interpretation

This cartoon is Leighton's design for a mosaic for the South Court of the South Kensington Museum (now the Victoria and Albert Museum). The actual ceramic mosaic was executed by Minton, Hollins and Co. of Stoke. It removed when the South Court was altered. The Museum also owns a copy of Leighton's cartoon by A. Sutherland.
