As part of the customisation of your ceremony you may choose which set of vows we will use on your special day. There are three sets of vows for you to choose from

  • Ceremony A, which is the traditional version
  • Ceremony B, which is a simpler, more modern version
  • Ceremony C, which is the shortest and simplest version

On this page you will find six sets of ceremony vows, three versions for Marriage Ceremonies and three for Civil Partnership Ceremonies. We are sorry but it is not possible to use Marriage vows for a Civil Partnership, or Civil Partnership vows for a Marriage.

Marriage Ceremony A

Declaratory Words: I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I ………….. may not be joined in matrimony to …………..

Contracting Words: I call upon these persons here present to witness that I ………….. do take thee ………….. to be my lawfully wedded wife/husband.

Marriage Ceremony B

Declaratory Words: I declare that I know of no legal reason why I ………….. may not be joined in marriage to …………..

Contracting Words: I ………….. take thee ………….. to be my wedded wife/husband.

Marriage Ceremony C

Declaratory Words: The Officiating Registrar will ask “Are you ………….. free lawfully to marry …………..?” to which you must reply, “I am”.

Contracting Words: I ………….. take you ………….. to be my wedded wife/husband.

Civil Partnership Ceremony A

Declaratory Words: I do solemnly declare that I know not of any lawful impediment why I ………….. may not be joined in civil partnership to …………..

Contracting Words: I call upon these persons here present to witness that I ………….. do take thee ………….. to be my lawfully civil partner.

Civil Partnership Ceremony B

Declaratory Words: I declare that I know of no legal reason why I ………….. may not be joined in civil partnership to …………..

Contracting Words: I ………….. take thee ………….. to be my civil partner.

Civil Partnership Ceremony C

Declaratory Words: The Officiating Registrar will ask “Are you ……. Free lawfully to enter into civil partnership with ………? Civil Partner replies “I am”.

Contracting Words: I ………….. take you ………….. to be my civil partner
