Council Tax Energy Rebate and Housing Support Fund

On 3rd February 2022, the Government announced the introduction of a non-repayable rebate for households in England. The support for households will be made from two different schemes. In addition, residents of pensionable age, in receipt of Council Tax Reduction or Housing Benefit, should provide their bank details by making an application below to receive £150 from the Housing Support Fund.

• The main scheme providing a £150 one-off payment to Council taxpayers in Bands A to D or in Band E but has an alternative band as a result of the disabled band reduction scheme. Only one payment per household can be made.

• A discretionary fund providing a £120 one-off payment to support households who are in need but are not in Band A to D.

The Council will make the payment based upon who we consider to be the liable person on Friday 1 April 2022, although you may be entitled to a payment from our discretionary scheme if you move into a property in the borough between Friday 1 April and Sunday 1 May 2022 and have not previously had a payment at any other property.

You will need to have your council tax account reference and the exact name details of the account holder as they appear on a recent Council Tax bill. You will also need to provide your date of birth and a copy of your latest bank account statement to assist with fraud checking. Payments will be made by BACS to your bank account. You will be required to self-certify that on 1 April 2022, you were the liable Council taxpayer (or would have been if your property wasn't exempt).
