Left of sheet: compositional sketch for the painting 'The Bath of Psyche' (c.1890, Tate Britain). Centre of sheet: full-length draped study for the standing female figure in the painting 'Farewell!' (c.1893, Ferens Art Gallery, Hull). Right of sheet: two half length studies for the upper body of the figure of Andromeda in the painting 'Perseus and Andromeda' (c.1891, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool).
Provenance
Bequeathed by the artist to his sisters, Mrs. Augusta Matthews (nTe Augusta Neunburg Leighton, 1835-1919) and Mrs. Alexandra Orr (nTe Alexandra Leighton, 1828-1903); purchased by the Fine Art Society in 1896; purchased from the Fine Art Society by The British Museum, London in 1897 (with 30 others drawings for a total of ú300)
