Protocols and procedures
This page highlights the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership Policies and procedures.
Core statutory guidance:
All agencies must have due regard to Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023: A statutory guide to inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
All schools must have due regard to Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023: Statutory guidance for schools and colleges on safeguarding children and safer recruitment.
Safeguarding children procedures
The LSCP and all our partners must follow the London Safeguarding Children Procedures. The London Safeguarding Children Procedures are regularly updated, and you can register to receive the twice-yearly updates.
LSCP Threshold of needs guide:
The LSCP has endorsed the use of the pan-London LSCP Threshold of Needs Guide.
You can view the LSCP Threshold Continuum of Needs Matrix.
The policies and protocols listed below are either Pan-London or local Local Safeguarding Partnership agreed policies in areas of work that are either not covered in detail by the London Procedures, or are slightly adapted for the local context across the two local authorities.
London Child Exploitation Operating Protocol 2021: This document sets out the London operating protocol for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children from exploitation. ‘The welfare of the child is paramount’. This protocol is police-led but equally owned by the Metropolitan Police Service, Local Authorities and Children’s Services and Health Partners.
Safeguarding Adolescents: Adolescent Safeguarding in London: A Handbook for Collaboration is a pan-London document endorsed by the LSCP for all practitioners working with adolescents.
