Dear Sir Frederick
I feel quite ashamed of not having ere this thanked you, as I now do most gratefully. [-] tard que jamais! for the charming book of songs, illustrated in her perfect and exquisitely pretty style, by Kate Greenaway that you so kindly sent me; but the truth is, I quite hoped and expected to have had an early opportunity of doing so de vide voise and therefore delayed from day today writing.
With renewed thanks, sincere apologies and every hope that your social gathering this evening, will prove a very cheery and enjoyable one, I remain ever, Dear Sir Frederick, Very sincerely
