Je m'empresse de vous remercier le votre aimable invitation a la soiree du 29. je devais partir ce juour la pour Jersey. Je retarderai de vingt quartre heures pour pouvoir aller a cette wiree. La Comtesse de Paris s'y vendrait aussi avec grand plaisir, mais, comme elle aura son grand bazaar le 27 et le 28 elle craint l'etre trop fatiguee pour pouvoir aller a Londres le soir.
Pour le Duc et la Duchesse de Bragame je me permet de vous demander de leur addresser votre invitation directement a Buckingham Palace. Comme ils solnt ici officiellement cela me semble plus regulier.

My dear Sir Frederick
I hasten to thank you for your invitation to your soiree of the 29th. I was meant to leave for Jersey that day. I will postpone it for twenty four hours so that I can attend this soiree. The Countess of Paris would also attend with great pleasure, but, as she will have the grand bazaar on the 27th and 28th she is afriad she will be too tired to go to London in the evening.
As got the Duke and the Duchess of Braganza I allow myself to address your invitation directly to Buckingham Palace. Since they are here on an official visit it seems more suitable.
