Description | A transcript of the letter can be found below:
Windsor Castle 23 March 1880 Dear Sir Frederick Mr Collins being away I ventured to open your letter as I supposed it would have something to do with myself. I regret to say that I shall not have the pleasure of dining at the Academy dinner, as I leave England for America next month and shall be absent three whole months. It will be a great disappointment to me to miss the dinner, but it is this year inevitable. Would it be possible for me to see your pictures before they go to the Academy, as I shall not see them when they are there? If it is not asking too much could I come at anytime on Thursday afternoon? I hope you'll not think me indiscreet. Y[ou]rs very truly Leopold
