I have received your letter giving me an account of the artistic precocity of your son and I write to say that altho' long experience has taught me that precocity is only too often fallacious and I should therefore be wholly unable from his present work to infer his future performance. I shall be happy to see the young artist if he will call. I am at home every Sunday from two till five o'clock and receive my frineds and acquaintances. Permit me to thank you for your amiable offer of your recent novel.
