Description | Dear Mary Thank you for your pretty note. I am disgusted to hear that I shall miss Signor & you - for I am off today & had arranged to go over this morning to say good bye having understood from Thompson that you were expected on Wednesday last. I am very pleased to hear that in spite of the weather (what weather! and what will it be, I fear, in lovely Scotland!!) Signor bears up well & rides & takes in the perfume of the heather. Tell him, please, that I have been largely repainting, tho' not altering, my 'Perseus and Andromeda' which I am going to exhibit at Oldham. For once in a way I think I have improved it so greatly as a picture that I want him to see it; ask him to bring you over some morning soon for fear it should be gone. The Exchange 'fresco' which you and he have promised to look at, is at the Royal Academy in the big room. Goodbye till November - with love to both Yours always affectionately Fred Leighton |
