Many thanks for your letter. I should be very happy to see Mr & Mrs Kemp Welsh any Sunday they like to call - but perhaps - what do you think? - it had better be a little later on. At least I could not well sound them on the subject of the S L G until we know a little more clearly where we are. I should think from your description he would be an invaluable man and I gather that in your opinion the two together would be, if they would take the posts, suitable replacements for Mr R & Miss V. The thing would have to be considered carefully in Council - but you meanwhile might informally & tactfully (as you would) feel their pulse on the subject as if on your own impulse. Meanwhile will you & Signor kindly sign the enclosed (reading Westlake's letter) & return both to me as soon as possible?
