DescriptionYour Excellency
Unexpressible kindness and gracious favour at your excellency making unfortunate men to be happy, compel'd me to undertake the liberty and the most humbly to beg of you to have the goodness not to leave me without your protection. Twelve years my father on his own expense has educated me; four other I was kept by him in the Roayl Academy, merely, to make myself really able for a surgeon; but to my misfortune one moment deprived me now of happiness. I was promoted on 20th of my age; and carries on the duty of a surgeon at Revel in Control - office: there was a Commander over me, such an one, who could not value my knowledge, neither my conduct: through his ready caprice I inherit my unhappiness. At the time, when I was obliged to defend my kight, as every officer should do, I was arrested; and continued to be under it for a whole month. soon after that, I was brought before Court - martial; three years I was judged ; and during this, though I wa continually troubled, however I performed surgeons' duty: this are, all togehter, Your Excellency if you do but take kindly in consideration and compare with that, what I was under the nessessity to commit, it will be found by you, that I am punished with it even more thaen I ought to be for my crime. With respect to my behaviour, even at present, I can say: that Doctor Franck Attestates me twice; and spoke, that I am worthy of my former rank; and, that it should be restored to me. Now two already past as I am under the yoke of my misfortune lead my life, your excellency! - this deplorable condition made me at last to resolve fly under your benevolent hand; and with the tears to pray of Your Excellency to redeem me an_ of such a perosh as I am in; Being certain of your companion, that you would not suffer to let me be pressed with an evil - event, I repeat my prayers and beg you be endowed of your notice.
Your excellency! One attention to me oul of your Compassion as soon as it will appear before me I'll reckon myself then in the number of those who enjoy their happiness under your protection. Your noblest and virtuous soul can restore me my rank and a life with it; for which I trouble myseld to obtain: your generous hand can revive my feelings. I secure your excellencies name and bounty for ever in my bosom. Deign to hear my prayers your excellency! and take the touble to return the rank to that, who has nobody, but your excellency to be protected by: Expecting my happiness, Your Excellency! I took temerity to wait for your condesended answer, which I fallter to have; and ejoying, endeavour to be always worthy of your notice and benevolence.
Your Excellency!
Most obedient and most humble servabt
Joseph Kentell
