The exhibition tells of the story of the relationship between Burne-Jones and May Gaskell. For the last six years of his life, they wrote several times a day, expressing a passionate devotion to one another. At the same time, Burne Jones befriended May's father and became a favourite of of her children and painted May's eldest child Amy. The exhibition co-incides with the publication of a book on the subject by Josceline Dimbleby, May's great granddaughter. Examples of letters, drawings and paintings that Burne-Jones presented to May and the family, many of which have never been exhibited before were on show.
