DescriptionArtist's proof engraving on paper. Five individual cartoons all differing in subject on one sheet of paper:
Going clockwise; 1/ the heads of three gentlemen of the day, Disraeli's attached to a chameleon’s body looking through a kaleidoscope and the others with bird wings.
2/ A medieval scene of an old king and young queen with the inscription ‘HONI. MAL. Y. PENSE’.
3/ Three gentlemen of the day with Disraeli ascending stairs in a huff whilst the others pull apart a newspaper. There is a bull’s skull over the door with the words ‘BOS EVROPOS’.
4/ A yawning gentleman with a spiders web and moth with an Eastern building and clothing.
5/ Upside down; a gentleman [Disraeli dressed as a masked player with a sword labelled ‘CHANGE’ dances forcefully with a diaphanously dress young woman with a ‘PEACE’ dove in the background.
