Description | Artist's proof engraving on paper. David Lloyd-George (1863-1945) strains under the weight of a millstone which bears the words 'IN GRATITUDE FOR OLD AGE PENSIONS TO BE WORN BY ALL CHANCELLORS IN PERPETUITY' being tied around his neck by Herbert Henry Asquith (182-1928). Both wear ceremonial court dress with plumed cocked hats. There are steps and a pedestal with two pillars in the background. |
