Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park
11 May 1875
Princess Christiana ventures to trouble Mr Leighton with these few lines to say that it w[oul]d give the Prince and herself much pleasure if he could find it convenient to himself to spend Whit Sunday and Whit Monday here with them? The Princess is sure that two days rest and country air will be a rest to Mr Leighton after all his labours lately. Even if he cannot remain over Whit Monday the Prince and Princess hope he will spend Whit Sunday with them? The Princess would propose Mr Leighton's coming here on Saturday the 15th in the afternoon. There are two trains fr[om] Paddington one at 5pm the other at 6.30pm either of which w[ould] bring Mr Leighton here in good time for dinner.
The Princess has asked Mrs Holmes to communicate with Mr Leighton as to what she settled with Lady [-aricre] after having spoken to Mr Leighton the other night.
