Description | 2 Holland Park Road, Kensington 24 July 1889 Dictated Sir, I have to acknowledge your letter, enclosing draft - of a memorial to be presented by you to the Home Office, with the view of obtaining the release of your Father from further imprisonment, and from the payment of his estreated recognizances. The case as set forth by you, and with which I had individually none but the vaguest acquaintance, does certainly on the face of it convey the idea of very considerable hardship to your father. On the other hand, I feel that, having no personal knowledge either of him, or of the more important circumstances to which you allude, I am not, on principle, justified in appending my signature to the paper, and herein I think you will probably agree with me. I am, Sir, Yours faithfully Fred Leighton
