I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 27th. I fear I am unable to add anything to what I said in my last, beyond this - that precisely because in my opinion the statement that lofty aspirations elevate while ignoble aspirations do the reverse, covers the whole ground, I cannot, with all respect, but regard this discussion as valueless and barren.
