Does Mr Appleton read everything that is sent to him? and would he, if he liked it, accept a review of an untranslated German novel, think you? My sister Mrs Sutherland Orr - I don't know if you read by chance her article on "Red Cotton Nightcap Country" in (I think) May's "Contemporary" - whose knowledge of German I can vouch for as complete is writing a review on a German novel she was struck with and thinks of sending it to the Academy. - Meanwhile as she is a great invalid and can use her eyes but very little she does not care to send unless the Editor is likely to read at all events whether he accepts or not. - You know him I believe well and will tell me what are the chances.
