A thunderbolt has just burst over me in the serene sky! I am summoned from Wednesday next at 10.15 on a special Jury at Westminster! I hope indeed think I may when I get there obtain my discharge from so preposterous a task - but it is only in court that this exemption can be pleaded and obtained. - I have been consulting my Bradshaw & see with dismay that no train on that morning will bring me up in time so that to my great disappointment I must give up the pleasure of being your guest at dinner on Tuesday evening & hurry back to town that same night - I am most truly sorry but am, alas, helpless in the matter.
