My dear Sir Frederick
You will know how cordially I share the universal rejoicing that the position you held in England's modern history has been properly recognized by that mysterious and multiform entity 'The Crown'! and further that the true and sound principles of what an 'Upper House' should mean have been so emphatically arrested. I ought to have written sooner but we have been moving Southwards.
We are basking in the sunshine - while you - but I stop.
All the same, I should like in these anxious hours to be in London, and in touch with what is going on. But we are ordered to stay here through January.
