Description | British Embassy, Rome 15 January 1896 My dear Leighton I am sure that none of your old friends could have rejoiced more than I did at hearing that the Queen had graciously deigned to raise you to the Peerage, and I sincerely wish you all health and happiness to enjoy the great honor which has been, so worthily, conferred upon you. I was present at a dinner given last evening at the Court here, and the Queen of Italy, in conversing with me, expressed the wish that I should write to you to convey her best congratulations on the occasion. Her Majesty always takes the greatest interest in you, and she highly values some prints of your works which she informed me you had, some time ago, sent to her. Believe me My dear friend Ever sincerely yours F C Ford
