Description | Sunday Dear Hodgson Your letter was characteristically kind and I should have answered at once but that I have been waiting to hear from the sculptor from whom I rent my other studio on the subject of keeping it on - Meanwhile he has not written and I will not defer any longer saying that unless (as I don't at all expect) some insuperable obstacle about the said studio should arise I have entirely decided to throw over the statue for this year and to devote myself wholly to your picture, for which indeed the whole winter does not promise to be much too much. - I have today come to a great resolution - viz to take out a figure I liked very much because tho' good in itself it injured the composition & crowded the principal group - it cost me a great pang - but out it goes. This is the second elimination, already! Yours Ever Fred Leighton |
