I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter, and hope you will pardon my doing so through the hand of a secretary: I am very busy.
I am afraid I can be of no use to the Editor of 'The Strand Magazine' in the matter on which you write; inasmuch as I have no tame pets of any kind, nor indeed ever had, except - years ago - a dog or two which were promptly stolen and never recovered.
