I have the Queen's permission to ask you whether you will allow me to submit your name for a Peerage at the approaching New Year's day. It will not only be a most merited tribute to your own personal distinction, but also a slight homage to the art of which you are in this country the honoured head. I hope therefore that my request may not be unwelcome to you.
