Description | Athenaeum crest embossed Dear Sir, I am glad to find that the amount of work in my drawing does not alarm you - for without delicacy and finish in the cutting it would be ruined. I commend the heads to your very especial care. I should like and indeed have slightly indicated a faint shading of the sky at the top and in the left hand corner but very little so that the figures may appear to be in half tint as a mass. The sun is supposed to have just set so that no positive rays fall on anything. The white paint on figures represent nothing and is used for correction and sharpening of lines. I will send the vignette in a day or two. Faithfully yours Fred Leighton |
