Dear Mr Watkins
I have received your note and shall be very pleased to see you and the Archdeacon on Tuesday. The Council by whose votes invitations are issued is indeed no longer sitting and my own small personal supply absorbed amongst a few other friends - but I feel sure that had I had an opportunity of proposing your name to the members of Council they would have readily acceded to my proposal. I have ventured to do an informal thing and ask the Registrar and send you two tickets which I hope you have received already. Two is unfortunately the number to which the Council is forced to restrict itself in each case; in that matter I dare not transgress.
