Description | 11 Dec 1874 2 Holland Park Road, Kensington Private Dear Mr West Many thanks for your note and still more for your kind and friendly succour in my straits. I shall be very alert in future. I have today another instance of the slovenly ways one may fall into. I read for the first time I believe a portion of the text, or whatever it should be called, of my Income Tax papers and find that there too I have been guilty of every sort of neglect; I believe indeed that in the case of that tax if you don't report your income they tax you as in the preceding year. Nevertheless I shall duly fill I my paper in future. Meanwhile believe me Your grateful delinquent Fred Leighton
