Many thanks for your most kind letter. What could you do except say that you did not agree with the principle of pretext? On the other hand it was only by asking that I would find out your feeling. I need not say, however, that an attitude which should seem hostile to the highest fullest development of the intelligence of women is one which would not be endorsed by the supporters of the movement.
