DescriptionDear Signor
I think I told you when you so kindly subscribed to the Wellington Monument Fund that I should probably not publish a list of the amounts subscribed - but the supply has run prematurely dry and I am urged to give it a fillip by publishing the list as it now stands. Do you mind this? I shall take your silence - so as not to importune to write - for assent. The Dean thinks that many who have subscribed will expect this publication. Hoping that you are maintaining your strength & health, & with love to Mary I am
Ever yours affec
Fred Leighton
p.s. I have, so far, got for the memorial £750. I have no doubt that others when reminded will 'come forward' - if not I will do it myself.
