Dear Mary
On reaching Paris I find your very kind letter (do not think, by the bye, from this paper that I have fresh mourning, I could get no narrower edge) and hasten to tell you that I shall be in London on Monday night & shall of course come over to see Signor on Tuesday - not, however, early morning as I have to begin working off, with my secretary a huge bulk of correspondence and he comes before 8.30. I am grieved indeed to hear that Signor has been disabled so long - I suppose with gout - if so perhaps it is a good sign that it has come out & had its fling - odious as it is. I want to thank you at once for what you and Mrs B Jones have done, you dear & capital Mary, in the Rossiter-Passmore business, of which I have heard thro' the little man. I call that being truly helpful - as, indeed, I was sure you would be.
Give my love to Signor
Yours affectionately
Fred Leighton
