DescriptionYour Excellency
Sir!
I am extremely sorry, that with all my utmost desire to serve under your Excellency's personal protection, i had the misfortune to be deprived of that honor at the time when your excellency's own attention recalled me that duty. The circumstances were inimical to my fortune, as I, being in Persia, before the opened navigation could not pass by land, because the Roads, which should be in my way, are not free from danger not only for the Russians; but for the people themselves whose countrymen makre there assasinations, that is for the individuals of their own tribe. These same circumstances restrained me from returning to Russia sonner that I have done. -
Now having returned to Astrachan I feel it my duty to inform your excellency and to beg your kind excuse. -
Offering now to yourexcellency my greatest thanks for the attention you have favoured me with -
I remain
sir!
With great respect and veneration
Your Excellency's most obedient and humble servant
Hab-chirurgas Astrashapovitz
