Description | A thin, pliable and glossy rug. Hand knotted rug with approx. 240 knots per sq inch, with a 5mm pile of silk. A classic Ghiordes rug. The relatively small niche (Mihrab) resembles a Gothic window. With two double columns, which is characteristic of this style. A lamp or ewer (Ibrik) hangs in the pediment which is red. A richly coloured ornamented border surrounds the niche. Those made in the last half of the 19th century have a red niche and a rich ornamented border. |
