DescriptionCatalogue, invitation, layout and captions, loans, press cutting, slides, timeline, file of research work. Cimabue's Celebrated Madonna by Frederic Leighton is displayed together with a selection of his preliminary studies and sketches. Since 1988 it has been on loan from the Royal Collection to National Gallery. On display at the same time is The Reconciliation of the Montagues and the Capulets over the Dead Bodies of Romeo and Juliet thus bringing together the two paintings with which Leighton launched his career. The exhibition throws new light on the three years Leighton spent in Rome in the from 1852-1855.
