DescriptionThe Friends were formed in 1969 but had its roots in an earlier association formed in 1896 (LH/3). John Betjamin was the President and the Friends worked in close association with the Victorian Society. The Friends were restructured in 2011.
The Friends aims were:-
To publicise and promote the House and its collections
Raise funds for renovations and requisitions
To encourage interest in Leighton and Victorian art
To organise a regular programme of events including lectures and study days, concerts, visits and receptions. Sir Hugh Casson became President in July 1984 and Richard Ormonde in ?. In 2003 the society became known as Friend of Leighton House and Linley Sambourne House.
