| Maker | Mary Ann (Marion) Sambourne was born on 29 September 1851, the eldest daughter of Spencer Herapath, stockbroker, and his wife Mary Ann Walker. Little is known about her early life, although she did spend 1867-69 in Brussels studying French, German and Music. After her marriage in 1874, her life revolved around her family and home, although she made frequent visits to friends and relatives across the country. From 1884 to 1893 she and her two children spent part of each winter at Ramsgate, eventually renting 5 Prospect Terrace, while Linley travelled down for weekends. Marion died on 25 July 1914. |
