DescriptionOak dresser in the style of C.L. Eastlake or Bruce J. Talbert. The superstructure consists of a raised back inset with a rectangular mirror flanked on each side by a square reserve panel painted with leaves and flowers against a gold background. Below is a shelf with turned supports. Below this shelf, at the base of the back are five white tiles decorated with green foliage with small purple flowers. Flanking these tiles are two wooden panels carved with a sunflowers. The bottom section of the dresser has a central cutlery drawer with two brass handles above an open compartment with a balustrade gallery (this space was originally hung with a green silk curtain). Flanking each side of the drawer is a cupboard. Each cupboard door consists of four panels – the top two panels are carved with sunflowers, the bottom two panels are painted with soft fruit such as plums, grapes and cherries against a gold background. Inside, the left cupboard contains a drawer, to the right a wine rack. The dresser stands on short turned feet.
