DescriptionAdjustable framed and glazed oval fire screen set onto a satinwood stand with a square tapered upright pole inlaid with boxwood stringing on four cabriole legs. The textile component consists of an oval silk satin, painted with a classical scene of two nymphs seated below a tree, one holding a caduceus, the other a palm. This has been applied to a ground of plain silk satin, originally green and the join covered with a row of seed pearls. The satin appears to be mounted on a wooden stretcher or board with the glazed frame.
