The archive contains extensive material relating to Leighton, his family and the history of the museum. Leighton's extensive correspondence includes letters to many of his fellow artists, members of the Royal Family and some of his most significant patrons. The archive also includes material relating to his grandfather, the physician Sir James Leighton, and to his parents and two sisters Alexandra and Augusta.
