A Victorian Obsession catalogue cover high res

Assembled over the past thirty years, the Pérez Simón Collection includes the largest private collection of Victorian and Edwardian art outside Great Britain. Included are exceptional works by many of the leading British artists of the period from 1860 until the outbreak of the First World War such as Frederic Leighton, Edward Burne-Jones, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Albert Moore, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, John Melhuish Strudwick and John William Godward.

Under a unifying theme of the representation of female beauty – a preoccupation at the heart of pictorial expression in this period – the exhibition illustrates the diverse inspiration that classical art, native mythology, contemporary literature and the great civilisations of the ancient Near East had on these artists and their work.

A Victorian Obsession. The Pérez Simón Collection at Leighton House Museum contains over fifty pictures, many of which have only rarely been exhibited, and includes some of the most iconic images of the age.
