A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA AT LEIGHTON HOUSE MUSEUM

Tuesday 18 December, 6 - 9pm

From turkey and crackers to figgy pudding and Father Christmas, the festive season as we know it today has its roots in the Victorian era. Join us in this special evening featuring greedy queens, jolly canapés and festive music. Meet Dr Annie Gray, presenter of BBC2's Victorian Bakers and The Confectioners and sing along familiar carols with Palace Avenue Swing.

ART HISTORY COURSE: THE PRE-RAPHAELITE REVOLUTION

with Jo Banham, curator and lecturer specialised in Victorian art and design and the history of wallpapers

Tuesday 26 February, Tuesday 5, Tuesday 12, Tuesday 26 March, 10:30am - 12:30pm

This 4-week course explores the history of the Movement from its origins in the 1840s to its later impact on William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones, and also examines the role of women as models, muses and fellow-artists. All sessions take place in Leighton's grand studio and include light refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits)

LEIGTHON LATE WITH SALOMÉ QUARTET

Friday 31 January, until 9pm; last entry  8:30pm

£10; includes a complimentary drink

Debut concert by our resident Salomé Quartet, a multinational ensemble of four prizewinning students at the Royal College of Music, formed in 2016. The musicians have performed worldwide, and in 2017 won the RCM String Quartet Competition, Helen Just & Susan Cornell Prize, and the Sacconi Quartet Prize.

LIFE-DRAWING AND PAINTING IN LEIGTHON'S STUDIO

Tuesdays 12 February, 12 March, 30 April, 21 May 18 June, 9 July 2019, 1-3pm

£30-£35

Our popular afternoon sessions in Leighton's studio consist of a mixture of short exercises and longer poses, with reference to our permanent collection and expert tuition from artist Ann Witheridge, founder of London Fine Art Studios. The course is open to artists of all levels however for those joining sessions in June and July (long poses), drawing is advisable.

DRINK AND DRAW 

Fridays 15 March, 10 May, 6:30 - 9pm; drawing from 7 to 8pm

£15; includes a complimentary drink, access to the Museum and class

Unleash your inner artist and join our informal guided drawing sessions in Leighton’s studio, where the former President of the Royal Academy conceived and painted his masterpieces. With live music and complimentary drinks, bring a friend or two and experience a different take on a Friday night out. In collaboration with London Fine Art Studios

STORY TELLING WITH VANESSA WOLF

Saturday 19 January, 2pm-3.30pm

Children £3; FREE for accompanying adult

Take flight at Leighton House Museum and share an afternoon of magical and enchanting storytelling with Vanessa Woolf. Music, props and lots of joining in! Featuring Daedalus & Icarus and The Freedom Bird. Suitable for children aged 4 upwards, with a parent or guardian
