Our popular afternoon sessions in Leighton's studio consist of a mixture of short exercises and longer poses, with reference to our permanent collection and expert tuition from artist Ann Witheridge, founder of London Fine Art Studios. The course is open to artists of all levels however for those joining sessions in June and July (long poses), drawing is advisable.

Unleash your inner artist and join our informal guided drawing sessions in Leighton’s studio, where the former President of the Royal Academy conceived and painted his masterpieces. With live music and complimentary drinks, bring a friend or two and experience a different take on a Friday night out. LONDON CRAFT WEEK: 3-D TEXTILE FLOWER MAKING WORKSHOP

with multidisciplinary artist, Lora Avedian

Wednesdays 8, 15 May, 7pm - 9pm; doors open at 6:30pm

£15; includes a complimentary drink on arrival, access to the Museum and workshop

Participants will spend the session creating 3D textile plants and flowers inspired by the Leighton House Museum opulent décor and secret gardens. They will create their own replica flora made from fabric and will learn to create textures and patterns using simple embroidery techniques that Lora uses in her own practice. LECTURE: PAST & PRESENT: MODERN ISLAMIC ARCHITECTURE IN THE GULF

By art historian Tarek Swelim. In collaboration with the Barakat Trust

Thursday 16 May, 7 - 8:30pm; doors open at 6:30pm

The lecture will discuss modern Islamic architecture in the Arabian Gulf and its recollections of the past. With the sudden boom in architecture after the discovery of oil in the Arabian Gulf, different trends and styles started to pour into the region, leading to a lack of coherence and identity.
