Coming from very different social classes, the relationship between Leighton and Dorothy Dene was complex for both social and psychological reasons. In Flaming Dene, authors Negev and Koren trace Dorothy’s life, from her humble background into her shoot into stardom and speculates why Pygmalion never married his Galatea.

The programme, curated by award-winning director Soudade Kaadan, is an enchanted journey showcasing the talents of Syrian filmmakers despite the challenges they face in a country shattered by violent conflict.

Following a sell-out run the last season, Leighton House Museum, in collaboration with London Fine Art Studios, hosts a new series of Drink & Draw sessions that unite music, fine art and a tasting experience.

REVIVING THE ANCIENT OR STEPPING OUT OF ITS SHADOW? THE BIRTH OF MODERN ART IN EGYPT

With specialist Yasmine Dorghamy and British Museum curator Venetia Porter

A talk to explore the rise and evolution of contemporary Egyptian art - its inspirations, influences, and protagonists, followed by a debate and Q&A.

A new series of  Dementia friendly workshops exploring connections between visual art and music at Leighton House Museum. A unique opportunity for people living with early stage dementia and their care supporters to take part in creative activities discovering the art and the stories of Frederic Leighton’s home.

City views and topographic paintings had been one of the most distinctive features of 16th century Ottoman manuscript illustration.

This talk examines the illustrations of a group of manuscripts composed between the 1530s and 1550s by Matrakçı Nasuh, the famous 16th century Ottoman polymath who excelled in martial arts, mathematics, painting and literature.
