Your feedback, and our responses, about the SEND Local Offer 2020

Every year, the local authority publishes feedback from users of our SEND Local Offer website. We also set out how we have addressed, or plan to address, the issues raised. All feedback we receive is used to make the website more helpful and easy to use. 

The following comments reflect the feedback given by young people with SEND and their families during the year 2020.

We would like to see more pictures, videos, posters and leaflets on the Local Offer websites

A Local Offer training video was co-produced with young people. The aim of this video was to guide users of the Local offer to the Covid-19 page. Posters and leaflets have been added under news items and more images to the Early Years page.

We would like to find out about activities taking place over the school holidays in one place.

A Summer and Christmas holiday provision document was co-produced with young people. These documents captured all the activities and events taking place over the holidays accessible to children and young people and published on the Local Offer. We will continue to produce more holiday provision documents in 2021.

It can be difficult to navigate the Local Offer site and find the pages we are searching for.

All new additions to the Local Offer have a broad range of relevant keywords added to improve the user experience and increase the chances that pages can be found from the search bar. This impacts how quickly users can find what they are searching for.

Some events and information advertised are outdated

When news items and flyers are uploaded onto the Local Offer sites, reminders are set for when the information expires for our Local Offer Coordinator to take down to ensure the sites accurately reflect what is available and upcoming. Outdated events and news items are removed from the landing page and ‘Things to do’ page on a weekly basis.

We would like to see more detailed information on the Short Breaks page

We are reassessing all pages to ensure information is relevant and up to date. We are updating our short breaks menu to reflect our new offer. Also, adding even more images and videos explaining who we are and what services we offer.

We have developed a strong online parenting support offer during Covi-19 – creating original content for parents, but also linking them in with free virtual support run by voluntary sector providers.
