Education and the Armed Forces Covenant

The Department for Education (DfE) supports the Armed Forces Covenant by:

  • Providing Service Pupil Premium for children whose parents currently Serve within the Armed Forces, and those children who have been recorded as having Service child status at any point in the last 6 years
  • Allowing primary schools the ability to go over the capped 30 student infant class size for an Armed Forces child moving into area

Admission of children of crown servants (Military Families)

Section 2.21 of the Schools Admission Code refers to relevant provisions for Armed Forces children and Crown Servants.

An explanatory note has been produces by the Department for Education to help local authorities and school admissions teams understand the duties and responsibilities imposed on them by the statutory School Admissions Code on the admission of Military families (Crown Servants).
