How to find childcare on the Family Information Hub

Actions

There are a number of ways you can find childcare on the Hub depending on what you are looking for. You can:

  • View childcare on our Early Education and Childcare provision map

  • Search for all childcare within the area, and filter this by your postcode, the age of your child and the early education and childcare entitlements

  • Search specifically for childcare providers that offer the early education and childcare entitlements for children under 5. There is an option on these searches to filter by age and postcode too.

The tabs below will provide further details on the types of searches as well as further information on childcare. However, if you need further help please contact the Family Information Service team at [email protected] or by phone on 07814 804262.

The Family Information Service Hub holds information on local childminders and nurseries. This information is received from Ofsted

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, they inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people.

  • Ages
  • Childcare funding

Searching for childcare providers that offer the early education and childcare entitlements for under 5

If your child is under 5 years old, they may be entitled to 15 or 30 funded childcare hours.

Our Early learning and childcare information page provides details of all the current funded hours available, as well as a link to a search of childcare providers currently registered to accept these hours.

To search for childcare, select the tile that best applies to your child's age and you will see an option to view relevant childcare.

The search will allow you to filter by age and postcode.

Please note: the funded hours are cover the cost of meals, activities and additional hours, so there may be extra charges.

I've completed a childcare search, what's next?

Once you have completed a childcare search, the next step is to contact the nursery or childminder and arrange a visit.

You may wish to read our guide 'Helpful information when choosing a childminder' or watch the video from Coram on choosing a nursery.
