  • Developmental review – a check of your child’s movement, communication, and social development.

  • Family Hub parenting support – advice and courses to support you in your parenting role.

  • Home safety and environment check – guidance to help make your home safe and supportive for your child.

  • 1‑year immunisations – support and information about your child’s routine vaccinations at 1 year of age.

Any concerns detected?

NO: Continue to access universal Health Visiting and Early Help Family Hub services

YES: Access to targeted services listed below:

  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) or Portage referrals – help with referrals if there are concerns about your child’s communication or development.

  • Audiology or Paediatrics referrals – support with referrals for hearing checks or medical assessments if needed.

  • Targeted Occupational Therapy (OT) or Physiotherapy – focused support to help with movement, coordination, or everyday skills.

  • Targeted Health Visitor visits – extra visits to provide additional support tailored to your family’s needs.

  • Early Help / SEND Early Years support – coordinated support for children with additional needs to help them get the right help early.

  • Practitioner observation – observations by professionals to better understand your child’s development and support needs.


If difficulties are ongoing, your child could access specialist services such as:

  • Paediatric neurodevelopmental assessment – a detailed assessment to better understand your child’s development, learning, and behaviour.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Early Observation Team – a specialist team who observe and support young children where there are early signs of autism.

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) early observation pathway – a step‑by‑step approach to understanding your child’s needs and planning the right support early on.

  • Specialist therapeutic interventions – tailored therapies to support your child’s development, communication, or wellbeing.
