Family Hubs

Our family hubs provide information and advice on support available to local families, parents/carers, children and young people. The support can range from improving attendance and reducing risk of exclusions, parenting support, school link practitioners, post-16 education, training and apprenticeships, health and wellbeing (mental health support teams, speech and language therapy, SEND provision).

The 2 hubs are:

•North RBKC: Holmfield House Family Hub
•South RBKC: Cheyne Family Hub

Age: Up to 19 and up to 25 if you have SEND

Full of life

An independent family support service based in RBKC that supports families with children who have special educational needs or a disability (SEND). Full of Life can provides advice and advocacy support to help parents understand their rights and ensure their child receives the best possible support and care. Support can range from:

•Education, Health and Care Plan information
•Issues with Health and Social Services (Needs and Carer's Assessments)
•General information and advice relating to housing
•Preparations for meetings or discussing complaints

Age: Children and young people with SEN and/or a disability up to 25 years old

Family Friends

A charity which supports families who are experiencing stress with parenting or difficult times in their lives through:

•Family Befriending - Whole family support for families facing multiple hardships which may include, mental health, family relationships, finances, and isolation. Volunteers meet regularly with families for 6-12 months.
•Big Buddies- Volunteers support young people aged 10-18+ regularly meeting over a period of 3-6 months.

Any family with children under 16 living in Kensington and Chelsea

Home Start

Home-Start provide befriending to parents with a child aged under five or who are pregnant. Their core offer of befriending is supplemented by an extended offer of therapy, a Bump-Start perinatal programme, a school readiness programme and a money management programme.

Age: 0-5 

Cost: Free

Criteria for the service includes:

•Have at least one child under 5, or expecting a baby

•Live in Westminster, RBKC or Hammersmith & Fulham

West London Action for Children

WLAC provide therapy and counselling for low-income vulnerable families in Kensington & Chelsea, both in-person at their office in Chelsea, in schools (primarily in the south) and virtually. They provide this through a range of individual therapy, group therapy, and group programmes (e.g. at school, or ‘Dads matter’).  The organisation helps clients who face challenges, including:

•domestic violence
•bereavement, divorce and separation
•school exclusions, bullying, and truancy
•mental health concerns
•parenting difficulties
•resettlement trauma
•substance misuse
•experiences of abuse
•racism, among others.

Referral information

The service is available for RBKC residents who are in receipt of Universal Credit. Self-referrals can be made. Professionals may also refer on the website.

Westway Trust, Strengthening Families Parents Programme

The Westway Trust provide three courses of the Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities programme per year to parents in RBKC. This core offer is supplemented by coffee mornings that they host in both the north and south of the borough, where parents can socialise and discuss any concerns with a trained practitioner.  

Age: 

For parents and carers, who have children from birth to19 years old.

Youth Clubs

Youth clubs offer a range of support and activities for children and young people to engage with. This can include activities to help develop confidence and self-esteem, homework clubs, mentoring and volunteering opportunities. There are 6 youth clubs in Kensington and Chelsea:

•Rugby Portobello Youth Club
•Harrow youth club
•Dalgarno youth programme
•Earls Court youth club
•Baraka Community Association
•Al-Manaar youth development initiative

Age: 

Ages vary based on Youth Hub. It can range from 13-19 or 25 for those with a disability, depending on the club. Please check website.
