Services for families with children under 5 and parents-to-be

Note: Following the Government's announcement about new social distancing measures, we have a reduced service in the children’s centres in the borough until further notice.

We know these are difficult times for many families, but it is important that we put your health and safety first.

We are committed to supporting you and your family and will do this in a variety of different ways.

Please find below the timetable of activities for September - December 2020:

Children’s Centres and Family Hubs are there to support mum, dad and their children, with friendly, experienced and qualified staff on hand to assist you with making choices and using services.

These are great places for families and communities that can provide information on finding local services such as childcare, early education and healthcare, as well as advice on jobs and training. Many run stay and play sessions, where trained professionals will be on hand to help you support your child’s development.

Children’s Centres and Family Hubs should feel welcoming for parents and other family members like grandparents – and it can be a fantastic resource that allows you to meet up with other local families. In addition, most Children’s Centre services are free; however, for some activities there may be a small charge.

Some Centres offer activities such as swimming, baby massage, storytelling and arts and crafts, as well as outdoor parks and play areas. Community organisations and faith groups often run activities like parent and toddler groups. You may find this a good way to meet other parents and neighbours, and your child will enjoy meeting other babies and young children, and learning how to socialise.

Our centres are split into two areas; North and South. It doesn't matter where you live, our services are available to you across all of the borough.
