Oxford Gardens Primary School - Autism Inclusion Base (Kensington and Chelsea)

Forest, the Autism Resource Base at Oxford Gardens Primary School, Oxford Gardens, London W10 6NF, is a specialist provision for children from Reception to Year 6 with an EHCP whose primary area of need is autism.

Forest provides a structured, nurturing and autism-informed environment in which pupils access personalised learning programmes tailored to their individual strengths, needs and EHCP outcomes. Inclusion within the wider school community is an important part of the provision. Every child in Forest is linked to a mainstream class and, where possible and appropriate, accesses learning and activities alongside their mainstream peers. Opportunities for inclusion are carefully planned according to each pupil's individual needs, strengths and readiness.

The provision is staffed by professionals with specialist knowledge and experience in supporting autistic children. Support focuses on communication and interaction, emotional and sensory regulation, independence, social development and access to the curriculum. Pupils benefit from individualised teaching and support, appropriate environmental and curriculum adaptations, structured approaches to learning, and close collaboration between school staff, families and specialist professionals.

Children also have access to dedicated sensory and soft-play spaces, including specialist equipment such as a swing and trampoline, to support sensory regulation, gross motor development and readiness for learning. The provision works closely with external therapists and specialist professionals, including Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy, to support a coordinated approach to meeting pupils' individual needs.

Oxford Gardens Primary School has a strong inclusive ethos, with staff across the school supported to understand and respond to individual needs and make appropriate adaptations. Forest aims to enable pupils to develop their communication, independence, confidence and positive relationships, while maximising meaningful inclusion within the wider school community and preparing children for the next stage of their education.
